INSURANCE QUESTIONS
One of the most important steps in preparing your home and family for an emergency is making sure you understand your insurance coverage.
Here is a list of questions to start with:
- What is the total amount my insurance policy will pay for dwelling coverage AND personal property in the event of a total loss
- Do I have replacement cost coverage (policy helps pay to repair or replace damaged property without deducting for depreciation, up to the policy limits) or actual cash value (coverage pays you what your property is worth today)?
- What is my deductible?
- Does my policy include Additional Living Expenses (cost of living incurred from being displaced from your home)? How much? For how long?
- What home inventory documentation would I need to provide in order to be reimbursed for my belongings in the event I experience loss or damage to my home?
- Of course, add any other questions you might have regarding your coverage!
