Boxes of Old Printed Pics?

Feb 11, 2025

Do you have boxes of old printed pictures filled with decades of memories? You’re not alone! Most of us store these cherished photos in basements or garages, unsure of where to start and assuming our kids or grandkids won’t want them. But losing all those great family memories would be a tragedy!

As a Photo Organizer, I’ve helped hundreds of people organize their printed pictures and I promise it’s easier than you think. Here are 5 simple tips to get started:

  1. Dedicate Small Chunks of Time – Spend just 30–60 minutes a week to work on your printed pictures. You will be amazed at how much progress you can make by doing a little bit at a time!
  2. Scan Your Favorites – Use the free Google PhotoScan app to digitize your pictures so you can find, organize and share them right from your phone! This will also keep irreplaceable pictures safe from fire, floods or loss and make them incredibly easy to pass on to your tech-savvy kids and grandkids!
  3. Create Digital Albums – Organize your newly scanned copies in albums in Apple or Google Photos so they’re easy to access and don’t get lost in your photo stream.
  4. Be Selective – Don’t scan everything! Focus on scanning only your favorites and ones with people! These will be the most meaningful memories for your loved ones to have.
  5. Track Your Progress – Keep scanned and unscanned photos separate using labeled boxes, tables or folders.

Your printed pictures are priceless and preserving them doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Need guidance?
